The Why?
For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me. Matthew 25:35
In Spring of 2006, with the leadership of Rev. Gary Foster, the West Davidson Food Pantry began. Started in the old Reeds Fire Department by a small group from Reeds Methodist Church who chose to make a difference.
Giving hope and food to just 25 original families, that spark of hope has continued to blossom. In 2022, WDFP supported 6,195 individuals from 2,081 households. And in 2024, the support needed grew over 300% to 19,496 individuals from 5,079 households.
WDFP now has our main food distribution pantry building. A storage center for community emergency supplies and food to support our growing needs, our school backpack food bag pantry resource center, and our gracious gift of a new box truck in loving memory of Scott Pressley.
Still our group of hope strengthens from one church to 22 churches, multiple businesses, clubs and lots of individuals who all want to assist our neighbors.
We ask you how can you support us and your community? Can you give financially? Can you provide your time and talents? With your help working together just see what we can do!
The WDFP relies on support from individuals, churches, businesses, and people like yourself to provide hope and food to our local community. As the need for assistance grows, we are appreciative of any and all donations.
Donations are used to purchase and maintain the necessary food, supplies, equipment, maintenance and renting of our building providing the tools required to support our community. Our supporters feel good knowing their donations give hope with food so our neighbors make it through their difficult times.
The West Davidson Food Pantry is a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization and all donations are tax- deductible.
